American University’s Library seeks to promote and honor student research papers that reflect the best of the best among the thousands of papers submitted each year.
The Library Curiosity and Innovation Award celebrates the inventive spirit of students who make exceptional use of our university’s library resources to drive their projects. Whether it’s prototyping in the Makerspace, capturing immersive audio-visual content with equipment from Media Services, or leveraging the specialized tools in the Digital Research and Inquiry (DRI) Lab, this award honors the creativity, technical skill, and resourcefulness of students utilizing these resources to bring their ideas to life.
From data science and design to multimedia storytelling and hands-on digital fabrication, the Library Curiosity and Innovation Award encourages students across all disciplines to showcase how they’ve integrated library tools into their research projects in unique and impactful ways. It’s an opportunity to recognize projects that go beyond traditional research, embracing the library’s resources to create original, socially relevant, and technically impressive work.
Three winners will be chosen, and each winner will receive $250 in recognition of their outstanding project, underscoring our commitment to fostering innovative research and supporting the next generation of thinkers and creators.
If you’ve harnessed the power of Makerspace, Media Services, or the DRI Lab, this award is your chance to shine!
Three (3) Library Curiosity and Innovation Awards will be granted to students whose projects or research showcase exemplary use of the Makerspace facilities, audiovisual equipment from Media Services, or resources from the DRI Lab. Each winner will receive $250, a certificate, and the opportunity to showcase their work in the Digital Research and Inquiry Lab on the Library’s first floor and feature it on the library’s website.
