The second edition of SIS Professor Tamar Gutner's book International Organizations in World Politics has been published, updated to address the many issues and crises that impact global and regional governance today including the COVID-19 pandemic; the war in Ukraine; and other humanitarian, security, environmental, and health crises.
International Organizations in World Politics offers a comprehensive overview of major international organizations (IOs) and regional organizations and their role in global governnace, working on just about every issue that states cannot easily address individually. Gutner presents a variety of theoretical approaches to analyzing the impact of large IOs and examines their historical development, governance structure, and performance.
In addition to the new topics listed above, the second edition includes updates on a variety of other issues, including African Union peacekeeping, the World Bank’s environmental performance, Brexit and its impact on the EU and on global governance, rising U.S.-China tensions on trade and other issues, and IO leadership changes.
