Molly Murphy, President, Impact Research
Molly Murphy specializes in domestic political campaigns and has worked on hundreds of statewide, congressional, and local races. In addition to her work with candidates, Murphy works closely with the DSCC, DCCC, and DGA to elect Democrats across the country and help identify winning progressive messaging. She has done extensive research work for progressive issue organizations including the Rockefeller Family Fund, EMILY’s List, SEIU, Human Rights Campaign, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
In 2018, Murphy helped Kyrsten Sinema navigate a tight race and become the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Arizona. She was also an integral part of the team that helped the North Carolina House Democrats break the Republicans’ supermajority in the chamber that same year. In 2016, Murphy was an integral part of North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s electoral victory over incumbent Pat McCrory – a significant flip in a state that Donald Trump won at the top of the ticket.
Murphy has also overseen numerous victories at the congressional level including the recent victories of Ayanna Pressley (D-MA-07) and Donna Shalala (D-FL-27) in 2018, Tom O’Halleran (D-AZ-01) in 2016, and Pete Aguilar (D-CA-31) in 2014.
Murphy has done extensive research on how to elevate family economic policies, including equal pay, paid family and medical leave, long term care, and affordable childcare. She was part of the team that helped develop the Fair Shot Campaign in partnership with EMILY’s List, CAP, SEIU, and Planned Parenthood.
In 2019, Murphy was recognized as one of the American Association of Political Consultant’s “40 Under 40.” She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Mary Washington.
Murphy spoke at the March 2020 training session.
