Health Law and Policy Program

Health Law & Compliance Resources for Students

It’s crucial to stay connected and up-to-date on opportunities and developments in this dynamic area of practice. AUWCL social media groups connect students with alumni in the field via the AUWCL Health Law group on LinkedIn. Professional organizations offer practice-oriented resources and often sponsor events and networking opportunities in the Washington, DC area. Many offer student memberships at low cost or free of charge. Information services track recent developments, helping practitioners and students stay up-to-date. Some content may be limited to subscribers. Pence Law Library databases give students access to many subscription services free of charge.

Launch Your Health Law Career at AUWCL

Health law is dynamic and diverse. Health lawyers work in many different settings, representing and advising policymakers, government agencies, patients, health care providers, insurers, and pharmaceutical, biologic, medical device, food, and beverage companies. Health care spending makes up nearly 20% of the US economy. Legislation, regulations, and case law at the federal and state level promote healthy living conditions and access to health care, protect patients’ privacy and autonomy, contain costs and eliminate fraud and abuse, and ensure the safety of pharmaceuticals and other products. Attorneys play a vital role and health law is consistently identified as one of the hottest employment markets for new lawyers. The field of health care compliance is also burgeoning and our students are well prepared to engage in this growing area. Get started here!
