Hosts:

This workshop will be held to prepare for the 42nd session of WIPO’s Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights. The workshop will address two themes: 1) Proposal by the African Group for a work programme on exceptions and limitations and 2) Appraising proposals for a WIPO broadcasting treaty in 2022 and its implications on access to culture and knowledge.

14:00 – 14:15: Presentation on the African Group proposal for a work program on exceptions and limitations, Mohamed Bakir, Permanent Mission of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland

Part 2: Appraising proposals for a WIPO broadcasting treaty in 2022 and its implications on access to culture and knowledge

14:30 – 15:00: The Chair’s new text: What is protected, what rights are granted, and for how long, and will that change the distribution of licensing revenues and the ability to clear rights?
