At Citi Ms. Brown Lee leads the global team that provides legal and strategic guidance for business teams and functions that engage with personal information. Ms. Brown Lee previously served as Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Mastercard where she was the global lead for privacy and cybersecurity advocacy and led a team responsible for providing guidance and ensuring compliance with privacy and data protection laws across the company’s products and services in North America, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Ms. Brown Lee is the former Chief Privacy and Civil Liberties Officer of the United States Department of Justice, where she served as the principal advisor to the Attorney General and DOJ senior leadership on privacy and civil liberties matters affecting the Department’s missions and operations. Ms. Brown Lee co-chaired the breach response team, played a leadership role among executive branch agencies working to develop privacy-related legislation enacted by Congress, and provided regular briefings to Capitol Hill. She received an Attorney General Award for Exceptional Contributions in Negotiating a Data Protection and Privacy Agreement with the European Union.
Ms. Brown Lee joined DOJ from private practice, and previously served in the Division of Privacy & Identity Protection at the Federal Trade Commission. Ms. Brown Lee chaired the American Bar Association’s Privacy and Information Security Committee and is a member of the Governing Council. She is credentialed as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) for both Europe and the U.S.
