Degree Program Change Tracking

The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment has created two interactive data visualizations in MicroStrategy designed as tools to help you explore the flow of majors at AU. Visualizations in MicroStrategy are contained within dossiers, which are commonly referred to as dashboards. Dossiers are structured with chapters and pages. Each chapter includes one or more pages. For optimal viewing, we recommend accessing these on a desktop device. Please note that access requires an AU login. If you encounter any issues accessing the visualizations and believe you should have access, please don't hesitate to contact OIRA for assistance.

Part 1

The first visualization focuses on graduation data for undergraduate students who completed their bachelor's degree between Fall 2018 and Spring 2024. On the initial page, select an entering major and discover which major(s) students in the entering major had at graduation. Conversely, on the second page, choose a graduating major and see which majors graduates enrolled in initially. Please keep in mind that dual degree graduates are included, while double majors are only reflected for their primary major. Additional pages provide insights into the flow between entering and graduating schools/colleges within AU.

Part 2

The second visualization utilizes retention data for undergraduate students, offering a detailed view of major flow from semester to semester. Within this visualization, you can explore the primary major in which each retained student was enrolled at the academic census for each semester. If a student was not retained in a particular semester, their status displays as "gone." You have the flexibility to select both a major and an academic term, allowing you to investigate patterns and trends across eight semesters for a specific major.
